Currency
The currency used in Los Angeles for transactions is the US dollar. The dollar bills come in the denominations of $1, $2, $5, $10, $20, $50 and $100.
Power Outlet
Type C plug and socket. In the United States of America, the power plug sockets are of type A and B. The standard voltage is 120 V and the frequency is 60 Hz.
Medication
Your provider can prescribe you drugs that are on the L.A. Care Medi-Cal preferred drug list subject to exclusions and limitations.
The L.A. Care Medi-Cal preferred drug list is called a formulary.

If you are filling or refilling a prescription, you must get your prescribed drugs from a pharmacy that works with L.A. Care.

Once you choose a pharmacy, take your prescription to the pharmacy. Your provider may also send it to the pharmacy for you.
Give the pharmacy your prescription with your L.A. Care ID card. Make sure the pharmacy knows about all medications you are taking and any allergies you have.
If you have any questions about your prescription, make sure you ask the pharmacist.
Visa and Entry
International travelers planning to visit the U.S. for business or pleasure may be able to get a visa waiver. To get a visa waiver, you must be a citizen of one of the countries that participate in the U.S.’s Visa Waiver Program (VWP).
If you plan to visit the U.S. under the VWP, you must get an approved travel authorization before your trip. Authorization approvals are determined using the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA).
- Check the list of the countries that participate in the VWP.
- You must have an e-Passport to use the VWP. This type of passport is also known as an electronic passport and has an embedded chip in it.
Visitors traveling to the U.S. for tourism or business meetings or conferences under the VWP can stay for up to 90 days without a visa.

Train Travel
There is no direct connection from Europe to North America.
Although,
Santa Barbara, San Diego, Grover Beach, San Luis Obispo, Paso Robles, San Jose, Oakland/San Francisco, Albuquerque, Las Vegas, New Mexico, Klamath Falls, Oregon, Trinidad, Colorado, Eugene, Oregon, Portland, Oregon, Seattle and Chicago are train connections through states to LA.
Public Transport
The Los Angeles Metro is affordable, relatively easy to use, and services most of Los Angeles County and its top attractions. The public transit system consists of Metro Buses, DASH Buses, and Metro Rail Trains. To ride these buses, trains, and subways, we recommend purchasing a reusable TAP Card.
